During the interaction, President Gilani shared the renewed vision and reform agenda of the PFF under its current leadership, underscoring football’s power as a bridge between nations. He stressed that the federation’s objectives go beyond on-field success, focusing equally on youth engagement, social unity, and strengthening Pakistan’s international sporting identity.
Gilani highlighted the strong institutional backing PFF is receiving from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Sports, particularly in rebuilding grassroots football structures across the country. He described this support as crucial in aligning Pakistan’s football ecosystem with international best practices.
“Our collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office is not merely about sport; it is a dedicated mission to empower the youth of Pakistan. By aligning our internal operational framework with global standards, we are preparing a generation that can represent the true, vibrant spirit of our nation on the world stage,” Gilani stated.
Ms. Natalie A. Baker lauded the rapid institutional progress made by the PFF over the past six months, noting a visible increase in fan engagement and government involvement. She acknowledged the federation’s reform-driven momentum and welcomed football as an effective platform for people-to-people connections and cultural diplomacy.
Both sides agreed to focus future cooperation around three strategic pillars:
- Advancement and promotion of women’s football
- Development of high-performance youth programs
- Joint promotional efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by the United States
Discussing the upcoming World Cup, Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the United States in making the mega event a global success. He described the tournament as a golden opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s youthful energy, passion for football, and growing engagement with the global sporting community.
Women’s football emerged as a key theme of the discussion, with Gilani emphasizing it as a cornerstone of PFF’s modernization drive. He expressed gratitude to the government for providing what he termed the “administrative backbone” that has enabled the federation to move swiftly on reforms and long-term planning.
The meeting concluded on a forward-looking note, with both leaders agreeing that such partnerships extend well beyond the pitch. They reaffirmed football’s role as a powerful tool for cultural exchange, institutional development, and sustained governance. For Pakistan, the engagement marks another step toward ensuring football’s revival remains irreversible, positioning the sport as a symbol of national pride, unity, and international cooperation.
