Sultans face another setback ahead of PSL 9
By our correspondent
As the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine approaches, Multan Sultans are confronted with a significant setback, with two key fast bowlers unavailable for the upcoming tournament.
The first blow came with the news that English pace bowler Reece Topley has been ruled out of the tournament. The England Cricket Board (ECB) declined to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Topley, citing a minor injury issue.
Adding to Multan Sultans’ challenges, team owner Ali Khan Tareen confirmed in a recent podcast that the promising talent Ihsanullah will also miss the entire PSL season nine due to injury.
“PCB has informed us that Ihsanullah will miss the entire PSL,” Ali stated.
Ihsanullah, who played a crucial role as the second-highest wicket-taker for Multan Sultans in the previous season, expressed how the injury occurred during the New Zealand home series. Despite the pain, he continued to play, hoping to be fit for upcoming series like Afghanistan and the Asia Cup.
The absence of these two key bowlers presents a challenge for Multan Sultans as they prepare for the upcoming season of the PSL. The team management will need to devise strategies to cope with these setbacks and maintain competitiveness in the tournament.
