Inspiring Documentary: “Above the Sleeping Giant”

The Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation presented the premiere of “Above the Sleeping Giant,” a documentary chronicling the extraordinary journey of Shehroze Kashif, the world’s youngest Pakistani mountaineer to conquer 13 of the world’s 14 highest peaks. Sponsored by the BARD Foundation, the documentary was unveiled here at a local hotel yesterday.
The documentary captures Shehroze Kashif’s record-breaking achievements, sharing the highs and lows of his inspiring journey with a global audience. The film carries a powerful message of perseverance, courage, and the pursuit of dreams, aiming to motivate individuals to overcome challenges and transform aspirations into reality.
Abdul Razak Dawood, speaking about the event, emphasized the importance of highlighting success stories to inspire the younger generation. He stated, “Such events are organized to highlight the success stories of our heroes and inspire the younger generation to relentlessly pursue their dreams, overcome obstacles, and transform aspirations into tangible realities.”
Mehreen Dawood expressed pride in Shehroze’s accomplishments, stating, “Shehroze has brought immense pride to the country. We are honored to be part of his journey, supporting him in his endeavors. It’s a call to all the talented individuals facing challenges in achieving their goals; the Foundation actively seeks opportunities to uplift the younger generation, contributing to the bright future of the country.”

In addition to Shehroze Kashif, the foundation has sponsored Naila Kiani, a prominent Pakistani climber, and has played a crucial role in nurturing talents like Hania Minhas, the youngest tennis prodigy, Tanveer Ahmed (a visually impaired archer), and Hoor Fawad (a dynamic table tennis player). The Foundation’s commitment extends beyond sports to initiatives like the Descon Technical Institute (DTI), aimed at bridging the industry’s skills gap and providing underprivileged individuals with skills for livelihood.
