According to the climate of Pakistan, there are two primary and highly successful windows for planting rose cuttings (propagation):

  1. October to November (Autumn) – The Best Window
  • This is considered the absolute gold standard for rose cuttings.
  • The moderate temperature and perfect humidity levels at this time of year reduce plant stress and encourage rapid, healthy root development before the harsh winter sets in.
  1. February to March (Early Spring)
  • This is the second-best window, right as the extreme winter cold begins to recede.
  • The natural rising temperature of spring stimulates new sap flow and active growth, helping the cuttings establish themselves quickly.

Pro-Tips for Successful Propagation:

  • Select the Right Stem: Choose a healthy, semi-hardwood stem that is about the thickness of a pencil (ideally one that has recently flowered).
  • The 45-Degree Cut: Always cut the base of the stem at a 45-degree angle. This increases the surface area for water absorption and root growth.
  • Moisture Control: Keep the soil consistently moist, but ensure good drainage so the cuttings do not rot.
